Jasper van Halder, CEO of Agnition, recently shared his vision with BusinessDesk NZ, discussing Agnition Ventures’ plans as the innovation and investment arm of Ravensdown. In the interview, he emphasised Agnition’s commitment to supporting initiatives that add value for farmers, including ventures that might impact fertiliser usage, focusing on long-term benefits over immediate profits.
Agnition’s portfolio includes 13 companies, such as Analytical Research Laboratory Ltd, C-Dax Agricultural Solutions, Cropmark Seeds Ltd, and Southstar Technologies, with plans to double this number in the next three years. Through its incubation program, Agnition helps transform emerging technologies into viable businesses, exemplified by Ecopond, an effluent treatment system created with Ravensdown and Lincoln University.
Each year, Agnition evaluates over 250 investment opportunities, actively building a network of investors interested in supporting these innovations. This approach reflects Agnition’s goal to shape a more sustainable future for New Zealand’s agriculture sector by investing in solutions that benefit both the industry and the environment.
